AAAAI is the largest professional medical specialty organization in the United States, representing allergists, asthma specialists, clinical immunologists, allied health professionals and others with a special interest in the research and treatment of allergic disease. Established in 1943, the AAAAI has more than 6,000 members in the United States, Canada and 60 other countries. The mission of the AAAAI is the advancement of the knowledge and practice of allergy, asthma and immunology for optimal patient care. AANP is the largest and only full-service professional membership organization in the United States for Nurse Practitioners of all specialties. Currently, the AANP has about 17,500 individual members and 96 NP group members. American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC)

AARC, a professional membership association
of respiratory therapists, focuses primarily on respiratory
therapy education and research. Its goals are to ensure
that respiratory patients receive safe and effective care
from qualified professionals, and to benefit respiratory
healthcare providers. The Association also advocates,
on behalf of pulmonary patients, for appropriate access
to respiratory services provided by qualified professionals.

the ACAAI is dedicated to improving the quality of patient

American Thoracic Society (ATS) www.thoracic.org
ATS, founded in 1905, is an independently
incorporated, international, educational, and scientific
society that focuses on respiratory and critical care
medicine. The Society has approximately 13,500 members,
25 percent of whom are from outside the United States.
The Society's members help prevent and fight respiratory
disease around the globe through research, education,
patient care, and advocacy. The Society seeks to decrease
morbidity and mortality from respiratory disorders and
life-threatening acute illnesses. The ATS was formed as
a division of the American Lung Association (ALA). Most
recently, the continual growth and international reach
of the ATS made it necessary to establish its separate
incorporation (Jan. 1, 2000) from the ALA. Today, the
ATS continues to play a significant role in the fight
against lung disease and the promotion of lung health.

Association of Asthma Educators (AAE) www.asthmaeducators.org
AAE is the premier professional organization for asthma
educators. The association was created in 1998. It is
composed of multidisciplinary health professionals. The
purpose of AAE is to promote education as an integral
component of a comprehensive asthma program, to raise
the competence of the healthcare professional who educates
individuals and families affected by asthma, and to raise
the standard of care and quality of asthma education delivered
to those with asthma. AAE is a nonprofit organization
that holds an annual conference, has an active speaker's
bureau, and provides regional programs on the topic of
asthma management and education.

NMA is the collective voice of African American physicians
and the leading force for parity and justice in medicine
and the elimination of disparities in health. The NMA
is a 501(c)(3) national professional and scientific organization
representing the interests of more than 25,000 physicians
and the patients they serve. Established in 1895, the
collective body is committed to preventing the diseases,
disabilities, and adverse health conditions that disproportionately
or differentially impact African American and underserved

NRTC is an independent, non-profit educational organization committed to improving the health of patients with respiratory and allergic disease by enhancing the knowledge and skills of the health professionals who care for them. The NRTC offers a range of evidence-based educational resources for health professionals nationwide: Courses of varying length and intensity for nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, respiratory therapists pharmacists, case managers and physicians. members, is one of the fastest growing divisions of the
American Library Association (ALA), the oldest and largest
library association in the world. PLA's stated purpose

Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) www.ymca.net
YMCA of the USA is the largest not-for-profit community service organizations in America, working to meet the health and social service needs of 18.9 million men, women and children in 10,000 communities in the United States. A total of 972 member YMCAs operate 1,586 branches, units and camps.
